Meet David Taylor

"There is no better book on the art and commerce of freelance writing."

Thanks for joining us, Freelance Writer! Please take a seat in the boardroom.

The Executive Editor is Ready To Spill His Guts.

Imagine that you have the chance to sit down for a private session with a top magazine editor from a huge, mainstream publisher. He tells you:

"Here are the articles I want. Here are the specific things you can do to get hired to write them. Here's how to get them written quickly and to my taste and here's how to get me to pay you--on time and in full--over and over again."

Now, imagine that he doesn't stop talking until you know everything he's learned about working with freelance writers during the 15+ years he's been cutting their checks.

In the span of a writer's career, that kind of insider knowledge can translate into some serious cash. So how much would you pay for a one-on-one meeting like that? No time limits. Ask as many questions as you want. Get as many insider tips as you want.

Would you pay $100? Maybe even $200?

Bet you said yes.

$19.95?

Bet you said "Really???"

Yes, really.

David Taylor, former Executive Editor for Rodale Press, the publisher of such big-name magazines as Prevention, Men's Health and others, has just released a powerful new tell-all book, The Freelance Success Book: Insider Secrets for Selling Every Word You Write, that is loaded with the kind of guarded tips that can make any smart freelancer busier than he or she ever imagined.

This book is a 368-page treasure chest of priceless, practical how-to and how-not-to guidance that comes straight from the golden source: one of the very editors who, just like his top ranking editorial peers, had the power to flood your revenue stream or send you packing.

This kind of boardroom-level disclosure is, as you well know, a rarity in the writing business. Why? Because editors aren't all that worried about taking the time to teach freelancers how to effectively sell themselves and their writing. They've got a publication to get out and a stable of go-to freelancers they can turn to quickly to help fill their pages.

The trick is figuring out what it takes to become one of those go-tos.

Here's where you get lucky.

David Taylor has a soft spot for freelancers and there's only one thing he likes to do more than write...and that's teach. So over the last year, he has spent countless hours putting his years of top-level experience down on paper to produce a book that will show you how to land more articles, make more money, stay in the business longer and, quite simply, be a much happier freelancer. How? By giving you the essential answers to questions like:
  • What's the deadliest mistake freelancers make when contacting an editor? Think you're immune from making it? Think again!

  • What are the 27 Secrets guaranteed to make editors LOVE your headlines?

  • What can you say during a pitch for a controversial article that will make an editor's eyes light up, magazine investors drool and get you hired fast?

  • Are you creating Killer Queries or are your queries being killed? Do you know the key make-or-break elements to look for in your queries--things like the 3 S's to success--to find out?

  • Are there really 8 Essential Differences between web writing and print? Yes, and you better know them if you're heading into cyberspace!

  • What are the Top 5 Myths about contracts? Knowing the truth about these can help you avoid the sucker punches that break freelancers.

  • What Secret Interview Techniques can you use to get interviewees to tell you all the stuff they haven't told everyone else?

  • True or False? One of the most effective ways to increase your chances of securing a freelance gig is to let the editor know in very clear and emotional terms that you love her magazine.

  • Why Are Editors Rude to freelancers? (Ever thought that maybe you're making them that way? Want to learn how to tame the beasts?)

  • And tons more!
